Step 1 – Vacuuming

Step 2 – Reach for the baking soda
Household baking soda is great for a wide variety of things, but it’s particularly good at removing odours. Sprinkle it liberally over your carpet concentrating on the areas you know to be smelly. Then using a brush or light broom brush the baking soda down into the carpet fibres, then allow it to sit. No not for a few minutes or even a few hours, but a few days! This will give the powder ample time to work it’s magic. After a few days, or when you’re tired of your carpet looking like it’s covered in snow, remove the top layer of baking soda and vacuum the remainder. Once removed get your nose down into the carpet and sniff. If some of the smell has been removed but not all, then repeat the process again. If after several attempts, the nasty problems just won’t go away, then you’ll need to call in the big guns!
